Inside the Offices of Moleskine

Inside the Offices of Moleskine

Inside the Offices of MoleskineIf you've ever wondered what the offices behind those beloved little black notebooks look like, now's your chance to take a peek inside.

Moleskine is the company behind the venerable—and currently quite trendy—Moleskine notebooks. They make everything from little pocket notebooks to large folio ledgers for artists and musicians. The two galleries below showcase their Milan and New York offices. It's worth noting that the Milan office is well established—thus the pictures of people actually crafting the notebooks—and the New York office just opened and the photos are from the office warming party—thus the pictures of people walking around the office with glasses of wine. Click on the images below for a closer look.

If you have a workspace of your own to show off, throw the pictures on your Flickr account and add it to the Lifehacker Workspace Show and Tell Pool. Include some details about your setup and why it works for you, and you just might see it featured on the front page of Lifehacker.

I vote uncreative. I had a local bookbinder make some thicker, leather-bound notebooks of rag paper I patterned in a laser printer and the cost per unit was about the same as these overpriced icons of hipness. Reply

Still waiting on that iPad Moleskine like the one they made for the Kindle a little while back...

Unbelievable. I just bought a three-pack at Barnes & Noble on Saturday. I really like them! It fits in my bag and the lines aren't super spaced. Good for Moleskine! Reply

I think I am going to open my own notebook business. Foreskine.

We charge by the inch.

But seriously, write with and on what makes you feel good. A true artist shouldn't need to rely on a "brand" to make their craft.

But for everyone else, just imagine how much beer you could buy if you settled for a 5-Star and a rubber band? A $15 notebook in times like these is bordering on absurdity. If you want the bound look without the price buy a leather padfolio and some legal pads. You'll save a lot of money fast. Reply

Trendy? maybe. Pretentious? Maybe. So feel free to go get some mass produced spiral bound notebooks at the Walmart directly from China. The difference between a Moleskine and one of those is like the feel of a good pen versus a disposable. It's a bit of a fetish, but if that's your kink go for it. Reply

Yes guys I'd much rather hunk round my trusty tablet to chisel my thoughts on in a whirl of radon dust over a period of hours. Very...'rural arts'! But for those of us with lives who write, these little buggars are the bee's knees. Reply

That's pretty much exactly what I imagined. Pretentious, expensive workspaces for pretentious, expensive memo pads - whodda thunk? Reply

"currently trendy"? They've been trendy for at least 10 years. Personally, I think they're overrated. Reply
